The kids are back at school, we’re all back at work and that marvellous summer is slowly turning to autumn gold. But as the last of our tan fades for another year, I think we all will have built a few good memories of the ‘Heatwave Summer of 2018’. Let’s hope we don’t have to wait another 40 years for the next one!
Of course, in the property market, there will be no let-up. Autumn is now making its presence felt and things are really livening up after the summer hiatus. Summer always seems such a brief season and the market kicks off with real gusto as people come back from the beach fired up about moving home and only a short window to do it in to secure a new home by Christmas. And these days that includes first time buyers. Studies show that, in the past 12 months, more first time buyers have bought properties than ever before. It seems the government has actually got something right for once! And long may it continue. This will naturally help to support other market sectors as this increased activity feeds through into the more general market.
So, if you are thinking of making a move and want to be in and settled for Christmas or the New Year, the next couple of months will move swiftly by. So take advantage of the continuing mild weather and put a lick of paint on the living room walls, fix that bit of broken guttering and get everything shipshape and ready to put your home on the market as quickly as you can. For anyone still in two minds, why not give us a call and we can give you a realistic valuation so you’re making a decision with all the facts to hand.
Our lettings team have not had a summer break, they have been renting property throughout one of our busiest summers ever and the autumn continues to be busy. Sadly, one of our lettings’ brokers, Thomas is returning to France this month to continue developing his real estate experience in warmer surroundings in Monaco! We will miss his relentless enthusiasm and his Gallic attitude to life. We wish him all the best for the future and welcome back Jack who has had a sabbatical in the sales team.
Other than that, I’ll be back again in October with the leaves falling off the trees and the clocks turning back……I look forward to seeing you all then.
