It looks like summer is coming to an end! With a month’s rain in a day, schools are back, the commute busier, football, the Rugby World Cup in Japan – autumn is upon us with all it’s colour and drama.
Autumn is a great time of year for the property market. Lettings have been busy throughout the summer but we also usually see a last minute rush to find a place before the new academic year begins and it’s also the time of year when buyers start coming out in force. A bit like New Year – they return from holiday wanting to make a fresh start. And from the latest data it looks like it might be busy this year as there are already signs people want to get things tied up before Brexit. Last month for example, sales volumes rose in London rather than fell – up by 5.2% compared to August 2018.
Of course the autumn sales window is a relatively short one and since the average sale takes around 3 months to complete, there is very little time to get things done before the Christmas break. It all adds to the buzz and the next few weeks will simply fly by.
We were blessed with sensational weather – dry and 25° for Brook Green Day on the 14th September when 4,000 locals attended this much-loved community event. The Brook Green Market – with it’s artisan breads, meats and cheeses – took over one end of the Green and there were also rides, stalls and entertainment for everyone. Our team worked tirelessly to do their bit and it’s estimated £12,000 was raised for the Friends of Brook Green who organise the event on Brook Green. A fabulous day! The 2019 Kensington Olympia Festival of Music and the Arts is now in full swing with an eclectic offering of music and art. Promoting music and the arts in the local community, the festival provides a platform for young musicians and artists to perform and display their talents to the local public. This year’s venues include Holy Trinity Church, Sloane Square, St Luke’s Church in Shepherds Bush and the Apex Room in Olympia. Please click here to book your tickets.
Our overseas team have been busy over the summer and are ready for the usual rush between now and Christmas. The team have also been exploring new opportunities in Montenegro; the new and exciting holiday destination, more on this very soon!
