Teresa Brewer of Finlay Brewer Estate Agents market

Summer has arrived and we have a new Prime Minister!  And that’s all we have to say on the subject.  Let’s think instead about sandy beaches, pools, countryside walks, city breaks – whatever takes your fancy – because the summer holidays are here!  We have a couple of weeks to switch off, pull up a deckchair and pour a large glass of something very refreshing and simply wind down from the stresses of the first half of 2019 – don’t switch off completely though or you might miss the property of your dreams!

I’m sure most people are under the impression that the housing market cools off during the summer months but it really isn’t as cyclical as it used to be.  We’ve been rather busy in both our Brook Green and Askew Road offices and have agreed some sales within days of launching to the portals and achieved; close to the guide, the guide or even over the guide!  It’s not as quiet as people assume!  So if you see something you like, you should act promptly so that you don’t miss out on your perfect home!

Get Ready for September

That being said if you’re planning on enjoying the summer before putting your home on the market, just remember that September just around the corner and now is as good a time as any to start the ball rolling.  Preparing a property for sale can take longer than you might think and you want to hit the ground running on September 1 – not several weeks after.  We’re always on hand to advise on the best strategy for marketing your property and we’ll happily provide you with suggestions for showing your home to maximise its potential.  It’s what we do best!  So call us – whether it be for sales or rental.  First tip: Put your property on before September so it’s ahead of the pack!

Landlords Act Now!

For landlords there’s more urgency as we’re now moving into one of the busiest times of the year as families try to settle themselves into new homes before the all important start to the new academic year.  With the rental market doing well at the moment it’s a good time to catch that ‘wave’ of applicants.

Summer on the Riviera

Our international team, who are complaining about the Riviera heat (eye roll), have been instructed on a fantastic family home/perfect pied-a-terre in the ever charming coastal town of Villefranche-sur-Mer.  Please contact Rista or Cheryl on 020 7371 4166 or international@finlaybrewer.co.uk if you have any questions regarding this little gem or, if you are thinking about a move to the south of France or Monaco.

Summer of Sport

We can’t leave before mentioning the amazing summer of sport: Wimbledon – the emergence of Coco Gauff, The fabulous Cricket World Cup, Shane Lowry winning the Open at Royal Portrush, the Netball World Cup, Women’s Football World Cup, Tour de France and the Ashes start in August!

Have a sensational summer and we’ll speak again next month.
