Spring Holidays

Wasn’t Easter fabulous?! Glorious weather and mountains of chocolate!

We’ve all heard as much as we can, and then some, about the ‘B’ word – enough is enough – the lack of any final decision on our European position continues to be painful no matter how you voted. Most people have now decided to ignore what the outcome might be and simply get on with life. After all, there’s really nothing we can do about it and putting things ‘on hold’ indefinitely is just not a realistic option. Fortunately the housing market has proved to be remarkably resilient during this time. I wouldn’t say it’s been charging ahead exactly but it’s been steadily moving along. Buyers are proving to be genuine and very aware of property values; the smart vendors have taken our advice on pricing at the correct level and have SOLD! There appears to be a pent-up demand which could be released onto the market very soon.

The current economic climate has been good news for the rental market where demand and prices have been steady. There is a sheaf of new legislation for Lettings – too much to detail here so please feel free to contact our Lettings Team who will be happy to explain the implications of this legislation which is recognised in the ARLA Propertymark Code of Practice.

We are delighted to welcome a new member to the team – Alan. He has made a very positive start to his career with Finlay Brewer and as a football fanatic, when not at work, he is training twice a week and hitting the pitch every Sunday for his local team. Go Alan!

For our colleagues in Monaco, it’s all shifting up a gear with preparations well underway for the Monaco e-Prix and Formula 1 Grand Prix which are both on in May. The work involved in staging these events is incredible and yet they somehow manage to keep most roads open! There are barriers being placed, strategic TV screens appearing and huge scaffolding being erected to hold grandstands and media centres. Although, due to being electrically powered, the e-Prix is quieter on the ear and is a smaller scale street circuit, it is still an entertaining warm-up to the F1 event which is hedonistic madness – engine noise beyond belief and designer shades adorning happy faces!

The super yachts and “beautiful people” have already started arriving to the Cote d’Azur for such wonderful events, with the recent Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters kick-starting the mood. This dynamic ambience continues through to the famous Cannes Film Festival which is also in May.

With the children back to school here in London, this is arguably our busiest time of year in both sales and rentals so if you’ve got a home to sell or rent, NOW is a great time to do it! Do give us a call and we can set the wheels in motion.

Back to work now! And a belated Happy Easter! I’ll see you again next month!
